What Happened...
My name is John Koetter. I was employed by an electrical company for 30 years until it was sold. The new owner hired me but did not acquire the equipment I needed to do my job. I rewind electric motors and troubleshoot machines. Two months later, I was able to find a job with a different company, and they purchased all of the necessary equipment. However, some months later, the partners split up but I was able to stay on. Seven months after that, I lost my job and all of the equipment went up for auction.
My wife, Cathy, and I prayed and we felt the Lord was leading us to start our own business. Cathy is now my boss (less confusion on my part). I asked her to name our company, and she said, “HIS Motors— everything is His.” We used most of our savings to set up the business. What remained we needed to live on since there was no money coming in at that time.
We continued to tithe and declare God’s word. We believed that He would indeed provide for all of our needs. One Sunday before church service, a dear sister approached us and gave us a check. Later after the service, she told us the Lord said she needed to give more, and to continue giving every month until we did not need it. That provided for most of our food. We were amazed by her generosity and obedient heart.
As we were entering the third month of our business, we still had not received a payment from any of our customers. The normal time after billing is 90 days. With only $300 remaining in our bank account, we were within days of needing thousands of dollars to meet our personal and business bills. Cathy and I kept on believing and thanking God for His provision. Then quite suddenly, some of our customers paid us early, and we were able to pay all of our bills on time. Praise God!
There was a time when Cathy was afraid to tithe, especially when finances were tight. Despite her fear, we continued to tithe and sometimes gave a special offering to show the enemy that fear was not going to stop us from obeying God’s word. We have seen The Lord’s faithfulness time and time again.
It is our desire to be blessed so that we can reach out and be a blessing to others. All the GLORY and HONOR be to our LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST!
