Thank You -by Liz C.
I wanted to drop you a line to let you know how much I appreciate the "God Time Cards". I'm not sure what you call them but that's what we call them. They are a staple for our home family devotions. I don't know if you have received much feedback on them but I think they are GREAT.
I usually use them in the morning before school. While my kids and I eat breakfast, we are able to spend a few minutes in the Word of God as our day gets going. It allows me an opportunity to talk about the topic of the month with my kids and explore spiritual things on their minds. There are only 4 days worth of devotions but I think that is perfect. It takes some pressure off if we are having a particularly busy morning and we just don't get to it!
One of the things I love about the cards is that they usually have a very applicable activity. Sometimes I leave it up to my kids to do the activity if they want to (crossword puzzles, mazes, etc...) sometimes we do them together. There have been a few "activities" that I would never have done on my own but they have been so memorable for us as a family.
Last year one of the activities had us make cookies and deliver them to the local police station and firehouse. My daughter begged me to make the cookies while they were at school. I gave in and we had the best time delivering the cookies. The firefighters welcomed us in, showed us around, let the kids climb on the truck. It was such a special thing. And I discovered that day that one of our local firefighters goes to Bethel! It was really memorable and valuable for all of us!
Just last week the activity was a science experiment. We were watching raisins jump up and down in a glass of water, baking soda, and vinegar. It was fun and it has reminded us to have joy in the Lord and be determined to rejoice no matter what the situation. That was a great message for me that day as my son somehow managed to dump an entire jar of strawberry jam all over the floor and I wanted to be anything but joyful. I forced myself to re-read the God Time Card that morning and I chose Joy.
I could go on and on with examples of how we have used the cards and how they have made a difference in the lives of my children...and in my own life. Thank you for providing them each week.
Like I said, you are making a difference each and every day!
