Churchwide Fast: Day of Repentance & Consecration
On this day, we are joining together, as a congregation, in humility before the Lord, to ask Him to examine our hearts and lives so that He can show us anything that may be out of alignment with His heart and desire for us. The goal is that we might be brought into a fresh, new place of unhindered fellowship with Him and with each other. He has promised us, in His Word, that if we will draw near to Him, He will draw near to us (James 4:8).
Repentance is to change the way we think and act; to see things from God’s perspective, and to adjust our view and choices to align with His direction. By an act of our will, we submit our lives to Him and align our ways with His ways. We ask forgiveness for where we have sinned (missed the mark), and we receive His cleansing and holiness by faith.
Consecration is a conscious choice and decision to devote our lives to God. Whatever He wants, wherever He leads, we choose to obey and follow His desires for our life. We commit to trust His heart of love for us, and we purpose to obey Him in all things.
The most important thing to do today is to quiet ourselves and sit with the Lord, allowing Him to lead and guide our thoughts and conversation with Him. As we give Him time to speak to us, He will show us things we need to see.
Listed below are some suggested Scriptures that may help guide our thoughts as we meet with the Lord throughout the day. We don’t need to read them all, but we can let His Spirit direct us so that we can hear what He wants to say to us. Repentance and Consecration to the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit is our aim.
